W Clip is a hidden fixing clip for deckboards made from electrocoated aluminium.
This gives W Clip a Class A Fire Class Rating, making it ideal for use with Wallbarn’s comprehensive Fire Rated non-combustible decking system.
IMPORTANT: Always drill a pilot hole of 3mm diameter using the red jig with a hardened steel drill bit into the support rail before attempting to install the W Clips.
It is black in colour and has been designed, developed and produced by Wallbarn to provide a hidden fixing to deckboards with a central side milling profile.
W Clip is available 60mm or 30mm long. The width of the W Clip at the underside is 5mm so the gap between deckboards once fitted will be between 5 and 6mm.
W Clip is supplied with the fixing screws included and attached to the clips for easier and faster installation. Being made from aluminium, W Clip is rated Class A so is ideal for non-combustible decking projects.
The 60mm clip has been designed to be fitted to Wallbarn 60mm wide I Plus and Box Rails (made from aluminium) and to completely cover any silver colour from the rails being visible from above once the deckboards are installed.
The 30mm clip is available as an alternative to the standard 60mm clip.
Wallbarn recommends pre-drilling aluminium rails / joists before fitting fixing clips.
The clip is a bespoke and unique design developed from scratch by Wallbarn to complement its comprehensive decking & substructure system.
W Clip was designed to fix the Exadeck porcelain and C Deck cement fibre boards; to complete the Fire Rated, Class A, non-combustible.
However, the horizontal wings at the top of the clip fit securely into a central side milling profile of any deckboard so is ideal for a large variety of decking projects.
The clip has flat horizontal wings to fit into the grooves at the sides of the deckboards, and a “chock” box detail at the bottom so that the clip sits on the rail without tipping before and during the fixing process; meaning they will not fall out of position and makes the fixing process faster and easier with less waste.
In addition, W Clips are supplied with the black stainless steel screws part-inserted into the screw chambers. This avoids them falling out of the fixing during installation, reducing waste and time significantly.
The screws are self-drilling screws suitable for fixing to aluminium. For WPC composite joists, alternative screws can be supplied on request.
Each bag of W Clips has a red clip with enlarged holes to act a jig to pre-drill pilot holes in the rails before fixing the clips.
